Andrew Rumsby is an environmental chemist with over 20 years’ experience investigating contaminated sites and water discharges. This has included the evaluation of the fate and toxicological impacts of metals and organic compounds in the environ-ment and human health. His expertise includes assessing the ecological and human health impacts of chemical exposures, environmental fate and transport modelling and use of environmental forensic techniques to identify the source of contaminants. Andrew’s experience coupled with depth of knowledge of NZ regulations and chemical process allows him offer innovative and site-specific solutions to your contaminated land issues.Throughout his career Andrew has undertaken several different projects to assess the ecological and human health effects of sediment and soil quality investigations at var-ious locations in the New Zealand’s Auckland, Waikato, and Taranaki regions. These projects have included using advanced geochemical, eco-toxicological, and acid sul-phate soils assessments; environmental fate and speciation modelling, and bioavaila-bility assessments using a weight-of-evidence approach to determine the probable effects on the environment. He has also provided advice to various clients on the dis-posal of hazardous wastes and waste acceptance criteria.
