Chris Smitt is a principal hydrogeologist and Certified Environmental Practitioner (CEnvP) with over 20 years’ experience in both the private and public sector. Over this time, he has amassed a wealth of industry knowledge and experience, all of which he uses to make sound, forward-thinking decisions for his clients and as part of EHS Support’s management team.Throughout his career, Chris has partnered with peers and senior management within client organisations to deliver numerous large-scale, technically and logistically complex projects across Asia Pacific, North America, and the Middle East. He has extensive practical experience in the development, design, implementation, and operation of managed aquifer recharge projects as well as delivering key hydrogeological aspects for coal-seam and shale-gas resource development projects, sustainable groundwater development projects, and mine rehabilitation. Chris has also represented numerous private clients, councils, and state regulators with expert evidence/testimony and currently serves as a committee member for the International Association of Hydrogeologists.In addition to the numerous projects he has delivered, Chris has served as a senior technical advisor to the members of the Victorian Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning, Commonwealth Department of the Environment and Energy (DoEE), Geoscience Australia (GA), Queensland Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Energy (DNRME), and CSIRO.
