Growth Manager, Sediment & Risk Assessment Group
Strategic Lead, Water Quality Compliance
Dr. Parker is a scientist with close to 15 years of experience working on a variety of sediment and surface water issues. In addition to his work on ecological risk assessment of contaminated sites regulated under CERCLA, RCRA, and state voluntary programs, he also has a wealth of experience designing and implementing large-scale hydrologic, sediment, surface water, and pore water quality monitoring programs that have targeted a variety of constituents, including nutrients, metals, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), and volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds. Sam strives to incorporate a mechanistic understanding of hydrological, geochemical, or ecological processes into effective, risk-based decision making. Throughout his career he has used remote sensing, geographic information systems, and a variety of multivariate and geostatistical analyses to improve assessment of soil, sediment, surface water, and pore water. Dr. Parker has leveraged his skillset to develop novel approaches to the assessment of ecological risk, contaminant fate and transport studies, and environmental forensic analyses.
