EHS Support was engaged to provide hydrogeological expertise in support of a take and use groundwater licence application. The client applied to Southern Rural Water (SRW) to construct an additional pumping bore on their property to supply water for a proposed pivot irrigator, requiring an extraction rate of 4.5 ML/day.
After reviewing the application, SRW requested a hydrogeological assessment to examine potential risks to neighbouring bores and nearby waterways caused by groundwater extraction. EHS Support responded with a proposed approach to assess drawdown risks associated with the new pumping bore. SRW approved the approach and requested that the assessment focus on identifying potential impacts on existing or future licence holders, stock and domestic bores, groundwater-dependent ecosystems (GDEs), and the broader environment due to groundwater extraction.
Following the completion and internal approval of the assessment report, EHS Support will submit it to SRW on the client’s behalf. To conclude the project, a virtual meeting with SRW will be held to discuss the findings and outcomes in detail.
