Integrated Environmental Compliance Plan for Kentucky Distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky

Integrated Environmental Compliance Plan for Kentucky Distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky

A new client for EHS Support in 2020, this Kentucky distiller is the largest independent, family-owned and operated producer and marketer of distilled spirits in the United States. The distillery produces and markets Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey and a variety of other distilled spirits. Work on this project was at the company’s bottling and warehousing facility in Bardstown, Kentucky.

The goal of this project was to develop a comprehensive Integrated Environmental Compliance Plan that addressed the requirements of several water programs in one, user-friendly document. The scope of work consisted of conducting thorough site inspections to gather all needed information to:

  • Address the requirements of the industrial stormwater general permit, the Kentucky Groundwater Protection Plan regulations, and the federal Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plan regulations.
  • Update the existing integrated plan, and associated drawings, to ensure it meets all regulatory requirements.
  • Provide the SPCC portion of the plan for review and certification by a Kentucky-registered Professional Engineer.

EHS Support added a comprehensive cross-reference matrix to the Integrated Environmental Compliance Plan for the client to easily locate the required elements and the relevant regulatory citations. In addition, an Action Item table was incorporated into the plan to identify key tasks and deadlines to fully implement the plan, allowing the facility to meet permit conditions and regulatory requirements.
