PFAS

Whether your site is active with current environmental permits or you are assessing the potential impacts of historical operations, it is critical to understand the evolving federal, state, and local regulatory frameworks for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).

It is also essential to have a strong, science-based strategy to understand and distinguish actual risks from perceived risks. The combined impacts of applicable regulatory frameworks and the state of the science is needed to inform sound business decisions.

EHS Support offers innovative tools and technical approaches to support client advocacy and has a wide range of services to support your PFAS challenges in the changing regulatory landscape.

Innovative Solutions

EHS Support provides an experienced, multi-disciplined team to address your PFAS questions in the current regulatory landscape. While PFAS uncertainties influence business decisions, systematic assessment based on good, reliable data can help optimize your business while complying with regulatory requirements.

Our Relative Risk Model is just one of several science-based tools we’ve developed to support our clients in response to regulatory requests associated with PFAS at their sites. In addition to compound-specific characteristics such as persistence, mobility, and toxicity, this risk assessment tool incorporates site-specific information and uncertainties to develop a site-specific, relative risk ranking for detected PFAS. This ranking provides a basis for alternative strategies that are focused on more representative site- and compound-specific risk, particularly in the absence of regulatory criteria. As a result, the site owner and regulator better understand the potential for exposure and have a better context for identification of potential risk attributable to the possible presence of PFAS.

Our PFAS Team

Our team is comprised of experienced risk assessors, toxicologists, ecologists, geochemists, hydrologists, data scientists, and statisticians. We have developed and implemented science-based site strategies in consideration of existing gaps in laboratory methodologies, toxicology, and risk to satisfy PFAS-associated regulatory requirements. Our team members have decades of experience navigating similar landscapes of emerging compounds and associated regulation on local and global scales. We apply these same skills to the challenges our clients face with PFAS and deliver innovative strategies to optimize site or portfolio-wide PFAS management.

Companies are being called upon to satisfy regulatory requirements, whether they have never used PFAS, are impacted by off-site sources, or have used PFAS-containing material in their operations. We can help you strategize and mitigate potential business and/or human health or ecological risk.
